Christina Ioannou, PhD – Senior Educational Psychologist
Educational Psychology Service, Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth (M.E.S.Y.)
Dr. Ioannou studied clinical psychology in France and has worked at the Ministry since 1999. Her expertise lies in assessing children with difficulties, adaptation problems and severe delinquent behavior. She served on the Ministry’s rapid‑response team, handling school crises and providing family support.
Since 2014 she has focused on the prevention and combat of child sexual abuse, collaborating for many years with the Scandinavian model “Children’s House” organization. She represents the Ministry on inter‑ministerial committees that shape policies to protect children from all forms of violence, and she trains teachers on recognizing and managing sexual‑abuse cases, overseeing the revised Teacher’s Handbook (2023).
From January 2022 she coordinates the Ministry’s Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Committee, implementing actions derived from the national “VOICE” Council strategy. Appointed to the “VOICE” Council in 2018, she is now serving her third consecutive term.
