Elena Karkoti is an Officer A’ in the Department of Strategy, International Relations, and Communication at the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC), where she has been working for over 18 years. Her primary responsibilities include coordinating CySEC’s long-term strategic planning and leading the program on financial education for the public.
She actively contributes to the development of strategies and initiatives aimed at enhancing financial literacy among citizens and ensuring investor protection. Additionally, she represents CySEC as a speaker at international events and conferences, focusing on topics such as digital financial literacy, investor protection, financial education, and behavioural finance.
Elena Karkoti also oversees the organization and coordination of CySEC’s corporate social responsibility initiatives. She is particularly committed to promoting the empowerment of women within Cypriot society and the economy.
She holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Economics from Cardiff University, a Master of Science (MSc) in European Political Economy and European Integration from the London School of Economics (LSE), and a Master of Science (MSc) in Finance and Banking from the Cyprus International Institute of Management (CIIM). Since January 2025, she is a PhD candidate at the Department of Finance, Accounting, and Management Science at the Cyprus University of Technology.
